Danny’s Net Audio – Thursday 09-24-2015

UPDATE:  Danny was always faithful, and a dedicated Net Control Operator and Manager.  We thought it was appropriate to dedicate this Thursday night net in his honor.  Be sure to check-in!

Danny’s memorial service will be at East Memorial Gardens at 10:00am on Saturday, September 26.  This is located just north of the Texarkana Airport on highway 67.  This will be graveside only service.

It is with great sorrow to announce that Danny Freeman KE5THI has passed. He went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning. Danny was transferred to Wadley ICU on Tuesday with complications.

Danny will be remembered by being the ‘voice of Texarkana’.  He would talk to anybody on the radio including passing travelers.  He never met a stranger and always welcomed a stranger.

He received his Technician and General license in 2008, and Extra in 2009 and has been involved in 43 VE sessions.  He had a knack for making antennas.  He could throw a clothes hanger out the window and make it work!  His passion for collecting old radios is apparent on his QRZ.com page.

Not only was he a husband of 35 years and a retired school teacher /coach, but also a past officer of FSARC and involved in Miller County ARES.  He was also the voice you heard for talk-ins.
